Our promise
Keep it local
Regulars Guide is for the places Houston actually goes back to. We list local spots, and we leave the corporate chains to everybody else.
What we list
- Independent bars, restaurants, cafes, breweries and venues
- Local hospitality groups, and every spot they run
- A local favorite that grew into more locations, even in other cities
- Houston bands, DJs, artists, food trucks and pop-ups
What we leave out
- Corporate chains: companies running several brands with dozens of locations each
- Paying to be listed, or paying to change what people say
- Places we can’t confirm are open and real
Where we draw the line
Local doesn’t mean only one location. A neighborhood bar that opened a second spot across town is local. So is a Houston group that runs a cocktail bar, a taqueria and an icehouse. A brand that started small and grew into other cities is still welcome, as long as it’s one brand.
What we leave out are corporate parents: companies that own several restaurant brands with dozens of locations each. Their spots are easy to find without us. The places that need a regular are the ones we built this for.
One exception: concert halls and comedy clubs. The bands and comics playing them are local, so we list those stages for their shows, whoever owns the building.
When it’s a close call, we look up who owns the place before it goes on the site.
Checked before it goes up
Every venue is confirmed open, at a real address, with a website or Instagram we can check.
Free to be listed
Nobody pays to be on Regulars Guide, and nobody can pay to remove a review. Paid spots are always labeled Sponsored.
